Customs Manager (m/w/d)

We are currently re-organizing our customs team and all customs related processes. We are therefore looking for a driven Customs Manager who is ready to build a team of Customs Specialists. As a Customs Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our customs and trade compliance operations. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring seamless cross-border movement of goods while complying with all relevant regulations and laws. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in customs management and international trade.
Your role
Develop and implement customs compliance strategies in line with regional and global trade regulations.
Stay up-to-date with changes in customs laws and regulations, ensuring the company's adherence to all legal requirements.
Manage import and export documentation, tariff classifications, and customs declarations.
Collaborate with external agencies, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to streamline customs processes.
Manage AEO Certification and ensure any relevant customs permits and authorizations are in place.
Conduct internal audits to identify any non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on customs and trade compliance matters.
Monitor and manage customs-related costs to optimize expenditure and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Act as the primary point of contact for customs authorities and handle customs audits or inspections.
In this international role, you will get the opportunity to travel 20/30% of your time to different locations in Europe. Your primary location could be either Germany or the Benelux and thus you will need to be located in the area of one of our offices in these locations.
Who are you?
Completed Bachelor or Master degree.
In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, trade compliance, and international trade practices.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex customs requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and cultures.
Proficiency in using customs-related software and tools.
Detail-oriented and highly organized with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
Ability to adapt to changing customs laws and regulations.
Certification in customs management or trade compliance.
Language skills both English and German written and spoken; Level B2 or higher.
